Watson and Alfred Kinsey were prominent in the development of behavioral treatment approaches in the early to mid-20th century. Kurt Freund developed penile plethysmography (PPG) in 1957 in response to the sexual preference hypothesis . Despite many criticisms of the PPG, it remains popular and continues to be widely used .
